Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion help with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass in accordance with diocesan guidelines.
Extraordinary Ministers should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence. Each is asked to show the greatest reverence for the Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.
Some Extraordinary Ministers of Communion are prepared and appointed to bring the Eucharist to people who are sick and homebound, in hospitals or nursing homes.
Instruction and preparation to be an Extraordinary Minister of Communion is held throughout the year.
